# Connect SeekOut to Cursor

> Add SeekOut MCP to Cursor with one click or by editing mcp.json, then sign in with your SeekOut account.

Cursor connects to SeekOut MCP over Streamable HTTP and signs you in with your own SeekOut account. Install the server for all your projects or for a single workspace.

## Prerequisites

* An active SeekOut account
* [Cursor](https://cursor.com) installed

## Setup

**One-click install**

**1. Install SeekOut in Cursor**

[Install in Cursor](https://cursor.com/install-mcp?name=seekout-search\&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3NlZWtvdXQtc2VhcmNoLW1jcC5zZWVrb3V0LmlvL3Rvb2xzIn0%3D)

Cursor opens and prompts you to add the **seekout-search** server.

**2. Sign in to SeekOut**

Cursor opens your browser to complete the SeekOut sign-in. If it doesn't, open Cursor **Settings → Tools & Integrations**, find **seekout-search**, and start the login from there.

**3. Enable the server**

In **Settings → Tools & Integrations**, confirm the **seekout-search** toggle is on and that the SeekOut tools are listed.

**4. Start using SeekOut MCP**

In the agent panel, try:

Use SeekOut to find security engineers in New York with cloud compliance experience.

Use SeekOut to find security engineers in New York with cloud compliance experience.

You can access only the data and actions allowed by your SeekOut role.

**Edit mcp.json**

**1. Open your MCP configuration**

```text theme={null}
All projects:    ~/.cursor/mcp.json
This project:    .cursor/mcp.json
```

You can also open it from Cursor **Settings → Tools & Integrations → Add a Custom MCP**.

**2. Add the SeekOut server**

Add the `seekout-search` entry inside `mcpServers`, keeping any servers you already have:

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seekout-search": {
      "url": "https://seekout-search-mcp.seekout.io/tools"
    }
  }
}
```

**3. Sign in to SeekOut**

Save the file. Cursor detects the new server and opens your browser to complete the SeekOut sign-in.

**4. Start using SeekOut MCP**

Use SeekOut to compare the machine learning talent pools in Toronto and Boston.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Cursor asks for approval before it runs an MCP tool. You can allowlist the SeekOut tools you use often so they run without a prompt.

## Troubleshooting

### The server is listed but has no tools

Sign-in usually hasn't completed. Open **Settings → Tools & Integrations**, start the SeekOut login again, then toggle the server off and on to reconnect.

### SeekOut is missing in another project

A server added to `.cursor/mcp.json` only applies to that project. Move the entry to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` to use SeekOut everywhere.

### The agent answers without using SeekOut

Confirm the **seekout-search** toggle is on, then name SeekOut in your request, for example "Use SeekOut to find…".
